Volkswagen Australia hacked the commercial break with the first ever TV ad you can play. Viewers could compete in the first-ever live mobile racing event by scanning a QR code in prominent ad slots for a chance to win a Golf GTI. Races were designed to fit the ad break's duration, challenging players to beat a specific time. Developed solely for web, no app download was necessary. The campaign was the 2nd most awarded automotive campaign in the world in 2022.
